Introduction: Contemporary cities face numerous economic, social, and environmental challenges that directly affect citizens’ quality of life. Consequently, achieving livability has become a fundamental necessity for cities.
Objective: The present study aims to determine the current state of livability in Sirjan, identify the most influential dimension affecting it, and rank the selected neighborhoods based on livability indicators.
Methodology: This study employs a descriptive–analytical method, and data were collected through library research and field surveys (questionnaires). Data analysis was conducted using statistical tests, the Shannon entropy model, and the multi-criteria decision-making models VIKOR and WASPAS.
Geographic Scope: Sirjan city, Kerman Province, Iran (case study).
Findings: The results of the Shannon entropy model indicate that the economic dimension has the highest importance and weight, whereas the environmental dimension has the lowest importance. Finally, the findings of the VIKOR and WASPAS models indicate that the neighborhoods of Koy-e Pezeshkan and Koy-e Peykan are in a favorable livability condition, Vahid and Ahmad Kafi are in a moderate condition, and Badrabad and Makiabad are in an unfavorable livability condition. These differences indicate considerable spatial inequalities in the distribution of urban facilities.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that spatial inequality in the livability of Sirjan neighborhoods stems, on the one hand, from the presence of non-local residents and their socioeconomic differences and, on the other hand, from the dominance of a neoliberal perspective in the decision-making of urban and provincial managers in the implementation of development programs.
