Introduction: Natural hazards, especially earthquakes, have become one of the main concerns of planners due to their intensity and short impact time.
Objective: to analyze and evaluate dimensions and components of social and economic resilience of Khalkhal city.
Methodology: The current research is among applied research and the method used in it is descriptive-analytical. In this research, first through library studies, factors affecting resilience were identified and after preparing the research conceptual model, a questionnaire was designed in order to achieve the desired goal. Determining its statistical sample size was done using the Cochran method and the sampling method was done using the simple random method. To measure resilience, 380 citizens and 15 experts were selected as the sample size of the research among the households living in Khalkhal city. After collecting data and field information, SPSS software was used for data analysis and field observations were collected using the ANP analysis process technique, and in the Arc GIS geographic information system environment, after preparing a vulnerability map for each criterion, the final map of social index and The economy of Khalkhal city has been prepared in Arc GIS software.
Geographical area: The scope of the current research is Khalkhal city.
Findings: The highest weight of the resilience of the social dimension with 7 main sub-criteria is related to the sexual structure with a weight of 0.20094 and the lowest one is related to the level of education with a weight of 0.04651; Also, in the economic dimension, with 3 main sub-criteria, the highest resilience weight is related to housing ownership with a weight of 0.48064 and the lowest is related to vehicle ownership with a weight of 0.11397.
Conclusion: According to the output of the GIS software, it can be stated that almost half of the city is in an unfavorable social and economic situation, and this causes the number of casualties and financial losses to increase during an earthquake. In general, it can be said that in the studied area, all the conditions and factors involved in the vulnerability to earthquakes, including economic and social, have worked together and caused the formation of areas with high vulnerability.
