Abstract
The main purpose of this research is the synoptic analysis of Ahvaz city during the occurrence of heat waves.

Research methodology: In this regard, the daily data of Ahvaz metropolitan synoptic station during the statistical period of 60 years (1961 to 2019) were used to extract warm waves and their time series trends were analyzed using two non-parametric statistics of slope estimator, sen and Kendall. The obtained data were used to analyze and investigate the synoptic atmospheric patterns that generate heat waves, which include the geopotential height of the atmospheric levels, 500, 850 and 700 hectopascals, the earth's surface pressure, and the thickness pattern of the geopotential height between the 1000 and 500 millibar levels, from The oceanic atmospheric database of the United States was obtained and used. The processing steps of these data were placed in the GRADS software environment.

Geographical scope of research: Ahvaz city in Khuzestan province

Findings and discussion: The findings in this station have shown an increasing trend both in the frequency of incidents and in the number of hot days in Ahvaz metropolis.

Results: According to the synoptic analysis of heat waves in Ahvaz city, at high levels, the high-pressure rule of the tropical Azores provided the conditions for intense radiation, and at the lower level, the expansion of low pressure in Saudi Arabia caused intense heating of the region and the mass of warm air. It sucks Saudi Arabia

Key words: warm waves, synoptic analysis, Ahvaz city, high pressure near the Azores
