Publication Ethics

  Ethical principles of the publication

"This journal follows and respects he principles of the International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (http://publicationethics.org/).

 

Responsibilities of the publisher:

  • Geographical Engineering of Territory (GET) promises confidentiality of personal information of the authors and reviewers of the articles
  • Geographical Engineering of Territory (GET) promises that decisions about submitted manuscripts are based on the scientific contents and qualifications, regardless of race, gender, personal orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, citizenship, or political affiliations of the authors
  • Editor-in-Chief is the sole responsible person for rejecting or accepting of papers The decision is made based on the opinions received by the peer reviewers and members of the editorial board of the journal Manuscripts may be rejected due to incompatibility with the the journal aim and scope or repetitive content
  • Any incompetency in ethical principles is not tolerable by the journal.
  • Unpublished manuscripts are protected by the journal
  • Geographical Engineering of Territory (GET) provides an opportunity to respond to authors who have been accused of "unethical publishing and research behavior” 

 Responsibilities of the authors:

  • Manuscripts must be submitted scientifically and coherently, in accordance with the journal standard in this regard, the followings should be considered:
  • The method used in the paper should be carefully and objectively described
  • The corresponding author must ensure the consent of the other co-authors
  • Authors should avoid personal preferences and false and inaccurate information or using other authors’ words without acknowledging and referencing of their work
  • The data obtained from interviews, questionnaires and other means could be submitted along with the manuscripts.
  • Fake reference to institutions that has no role in providing the original research are forbidden.
  • Submission of the manuscript at the same time to another journals is prohibited.
  • The researchers are not allowed to publish a repetitive dataset and manuscript.
  • Unreliable and dubious scientific sources shouldn’t be cited.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for credibility of the research. The corresponding author is also responsible for communicating, responding the ambiguities about the manuscript, and editing it accordingly.
  • All co-authors and their organizational affiliations should be listed, which is the approval of their contributing. The minor contributions can be acknowledged at the end of manuscripts. The corresponding author should send a copy of the article submitted to the journal and other co-authors to obtain their consent about their position in the paper.
  • In the articles extracted from the master's and doctoral dissertations, it is necessary to mention the name of the student, the supervisor professor(s) and the advisor professor(s), respectively.
  • Noticing any errors or inaccuracies in the article, the corresponding author need to inform the editors, and try to modify or withdraw the manuscript.
  • After the final acceptance of the manuscript, the copyright is transferred to the publisher

 

 Responsibilities of the reviewers:

  • The reviewers should evaluate the quality of the paper impartially.
  • The reviewers should consider the conflict of interest of his own studies and the manuscripts they are evaluating.
  • All information contained in the manuscripts are considered confidential for the reviewers.
  • The reviewers should be based on scientific and academic reasoning, and not personal opinion.

Glossary of ethical principles:

  • Plagiarism: Plagiarism means the intentional use of another person's articles or ideas in one's own name. Even using another person's sentence without mentioning the source is considered theft.  All manuscripts submitted to this journal are checked by plagiarism software.
  • Data distortion: Data distortion occurs when the researchers did a study but change the data and results, or misinterpret the results of others' study.
  • Data fabrication: Data fabrication is when the researcher did not do a study in practice but presents data and conclusions.
  • Simultaneous submission: It occurs when a manuscript is submitted to two or more journals simultaneously.
  • Duplicate submission: It occurs when two or more papers have the same assumptions, data, and results.
  • Repetitive submission (additional): It means dividing a study into multiple papers and submitting them.
  • Listing a non-contributed author:  All authors listed in the article should contribute to it.
  • Manipulation of sources: It is when several sources are mentioned at the end of a paper, while they are not mentioned in the content of the text.
  • Resubmit a rejected manuscript: The manuscripts that have been rejected according to the opinions of the reviewers should not be resubmitted to the journal after editing.

False academic attribution: False academic attribution is when authors mention an institute or educational or research group that did not play a role in the original research.
